Astrophotography Star Tracker


I made an astrophotography star tracker. When taking long exposure photos of the sky this star tracker takes into account the earth’s rotation to keep the camera pointed at the same location in the sky without drifting.

The worm gear along with the gear ratio setup allows for extremely fine tune precision when rotating the camera. This allows the camera to ever so slightly rotate, turning 15 degrees an hour.

The video below shows the setup moving at a sped up rate. When in use the camera should be rotating at one revolution per 24h.
